07/08/2010 - Memphis, TN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Memphis Grizzlies signed forward Rudy Gay to a multi-year contract Thursday, officially ending his flirtation with free agency.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Memphis Commercial Appeal backed up earlier reports that revealed it is for five years and worth $82 million.
"It's a great day for the Grizzlies franchise to re-sign Rudy," said Memphis general manager Chris Wallace. "Rudy has been a cornerstone of our team for the past four seasons and was one of the top stars in perhaps the greatest free agent class in NBA history. We're very excited for him to continue his professional career in the city of Memphis."
Gay, the eighth overall pick in the 2006 draft, ranked second on the Grizzlies' scoring list last season with 19.6 points per game, adding 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 80 contests.
Over his four-year career, Gay has averaged 17.4 points and 5.5 boards in 318 contests -- all with Memphis.
The 23-year-old has previously decided to test the waters with a visit to Minnesota last week, but cancelled the trip after agreeing in principle to the qualifying offer the Grizzlies made.
"I'm grateful to the Grizzlies organization for giving me the opportunity to continue my NBA career in Memphis," Gay stated. "I embrace the opportunity to continually evolve in this leadership role -- on and off the court."

The Nebraska athletic department said in a release Monday that Lucky was admitted Sunday night.

A nursing supervisor at the hospital said all questions about Lucky were being referred to the athletic department. The athletic department said there would be no further comment from the department or Lucky's family.
A Lincoln Police spokesman said officers responded to a call at Lucky's residence 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The spokesman said he didn't know Lucky's condition at the time he was taken to the hospital.
Lucky, from North Hollywood, Calif., started six games last season as a sophomore and was the team's second-leading rusher, with 728 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes for 383 yards. He averaged 19.1 yards on eight kickoff returns.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.
(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977. Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.
Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer. In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite. After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.
Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions. They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
